Last Wednesday, MSC Cruises launched its new cruise ship "MSC Seascape" in New York. Representatives of UNICEF Switzerland and Liechtenstein and UNICEF USA attended the ceremony.
On the podium, UNICEF was represented by UNICEF champion Emma Hepburn Ferrer. The US-based artist is the direct granddaughter of Audrey Hepburn, one of the very first UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors. Hepburn Ferrer thanked the MSC Foundation for its long-standing partnership, praising the UNICEF program "From Plastic Waste to Classrooms" in Côte d'Ivoire, which is supported by the MSC Foundation. During her address, Hepburn Ferrer also shared personal thoughts with the audience, highlighting how her enthusiasm for UNICEF is directly linked to her grandmother's passion and commitment.
MSC Group has been supporting UNICEF's work since 2009 through fundraising and awareness raising activities on board of cruise ships. Since 2019, the MSC Foundation is acting as main point of contact for UNICEF. Thanks to MSC, over 11 million euros have already been donated to UNICEF programs in various countries. The MSC Foundation raises awareness of UNICEF's work and supports shipping of UNICEF relief supplies through MSC's cargo department.
